Hormonal Imbalance Nutritionist

Hormones
Functional nutrition for hormonal imbalances

Feel like yourself again, all month long

One week a month you don’t recognise yourself. Your periods are heavy, painful or all over the place. Your skin breaks out, your sleep falls apart, and your energy and mood ride a rollercoaster you didn’t sign up for.

You might have been told it’s normal, or offered the pill to mask it. But symptoms are signals. They tell us something in your hormone system needs support.

I look at how you make, use and clear your hormones, and at everything that pulls on them, from stress and blood sugar to your gut and liver. Then we fix the cause, not just the symptoms.

Signs of hormonal imbalance

Does this sound familiar?

  • PMS, PMDD or mood swings before your period
  • Heavy, painful, irregular or missing periods
  • Endometriosis, fibroids or fibrocystic breasts
  • Hormonal acne, hair loss or excess hair growth
  • Low libido, low energy or brain fog
  • Perimenopause symptoms such as hot flushes, night sweats, anxiety and poor sleep
  • Weight gain around the middle that won’t shift
  • Thyroid symptoms like feeling cold, tired and sluggish

Hormone symptoms often show up alongside gut problems, anxiety or skin issues. Connecting those dots is usually where the real progress starts.

The root causes I look for

What's often behind it

  • Oestrogen clearance. If your liver and gut don’t clear oestrogen well, it can build up and recirculate.
  • Stress hormones. Chronic stress diverts resources away from progesterone and sex hormones.
  • Blood sugar. Swings in blood sugar and insulin disrupt ovulation and androgens.
  • Gut health. Certain gut bacteria recycle oestrogen back into circulation.
  • Thyroid function. Subtle thyroid issues affect cycles, energy and mood.
  • Nutrient status. Magnesium, B6, zinc and iron all matter for a healthy cycle.
  • Your genes. Some of us are wired to clear hormones more slowly.

Investigate, test, plan

How I work with you

Every hormone picture is different, so we start by understanding yours properly.

  1. Investigate. Your cycle, symptoms, history and lifestyle.
  2. Test where it helps. DUTCH hormone testing, functional blood analysis, a hormones DNA test or a stool test.
  3. Plan. Food, targeted supplements and lifestyle changes that support hormone production and clearance.
  4. Support. We track your cycle and adjust as your body responds.

Hormonal imbalance FAQs

What is a DUTCH test? + −

A dried urine test that shows your sex hormones, how you clear them and your daily cortisol rhythm. It gives a much fuller picture than a single blood test.

Can you help with perimenopause and menopause? + −

Yes. Nutrition, blood sugar balance, stress support and targeted supplements can make a big difference. I can work alongside HRT if you choose it.

Can I work with you if I'm on the pill? + −

Yes. We can still support your gut, liver, nutrients and stress. If you plan to come off it, I can help you prepare and support your cycle afterwards.

When should I see a doctor? + −

Please see your GP for very heavy bleeding, bleeding between periods or after sex, severe pelvic pain or periods that stop suddenly, so these can be checked first.

Do you work with clients outside the UK? + −

Yes. All consultations are online and I work with clients around the world. Most of the tests I use can be shipped internationally.

Will I need functional testing? + −

Not always. Testing is optional, and I only recommend tests that will change what we do. We decide together on your strategy call.
