Diabetes and Insulin Resistance Nutritionist

Metabolism
Functional nutrition for diabetes and insulin resistance

Take back control of your blood sugar

Your last blood test flagged rising blood sugar, or you’ve been diagnosed with prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. Maybe you feel tired after meals, crave sugar, and carry weight around your middle that won’t shift.

Insulin resistance often builds quietly for years before blood sugar rises. The good news is that it responds powerfully to food, movement, sleep and stress, especially when the plan fits your body and your life.

I help you understand what’s driving your blood sugar, and build a realistic plan to improve it.

The root causes I look for

What drives insulin resistance

  • Diet pattern. Frequent refined carbohydrates and little protein or fibre.
  • Muscle mass and movement. Muscle is your biggest glucose sink.
  • Sleep and stress. Poor sleep and high cortisol both raise blood sugar.
  • Inflammation and gut health. Both affect how cells respond to insulin.
  • Nutrients. Magnesium, chromium, vitamin D and omega-3.
  • Hormones and genetics. Some of us are wired to handle carbohydrates differently.

Investigate, test, plan

How I work with you

We build a plan that works with your body, your preferences and your medical care.

  1. Investigate. Your results, history, diet, sleep, stress and activity.
  2. Test where it helps. Functional blood analysis including insulin and HbA1c, a Metabolics DNA test, or continuous glucose monitoring.
  3. Plan. Blood sugar balancing meals, movement, sleep and targeted supplements.
  4. Support. We track your markers and adjust as they improve.

Your questions answered

Blood sugar FAQs

Can insulin resistance be reversed? + −

Insulin sensitivity can improve significantly with the right changes, and many people bring raised blood sugar back into a healthy range.

I take diabetes medication. Is this safe? + −

Yes, but it’s important your doctor knows. As your diet changes your blood sugar may fall, and medication may need adjusting to avoid lows. I’m happy to liaise with your doctor.

Do I have to go low carb? + −

Not necessarily. Many people do well with balanced meals built around protein, fibre and healthy fats. We find what works for your body and your life.

Do you work with clients outside the UK? + −

Yes. All consultations are online and I work with clients around the world. Most of the tests I use can be shipped internationally.

Will I need functional testing? + −

Not always. Testing is optional, and I only recommend tests that will change what we do. We decide together on your strategy call.
