My Recommended Blood Test List

My Recommended Blood Test List

Ever wonder what’s really going on beneath the surface of your health? A comprehensive blood test offers powerful insights that can help you catch potential issues early, optimise energy, and make personalised health adjustments.

I run this panel as a standard part of my practice because it provides a complete foundational picture of what’s happening in your body. Think of it as building a puzzle: if we only gather a few pieces, we can only see a partial view of your health. Each of these biomarkers represents a crucial element that helps us understand how various systems are functioning together. Without this full spectrum, we might miss critical insights that could affect your health and well-being in the long run.

Note that my blood test list is pretty comprehensive and you may not be able to get the full list, but if you can, it will give you a clear picture across various health markers.

If you are ordering your blood test with a lab such as Medichecks or Randox, and you would like my help in interpreting the test, I am launching a new 1-to-1 consultation package to include blood test interpretations. If you’re interested, please message me on Whatsapp, Instagram or email.

Functional Blood Test Biomarkers:

Schedule your blood test for the morning while fasted (and after drinking plenty of water e.g. 500ml). Here’s what an ideal panel would include:

  • Complete Blood Count: RBC, HGB, HCT, MCV, MCH, MCHC, RDW, WBC, neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, basophils.
  • Blood Sugar Balance: HbA1c, fasting glucose, fasting insulin.
  • Liver Profile: Alk Phos, ALT, AST, GGT, total bilirubin.
  • Kidney Profile: Urea, creatinine, eGFR.
  • Electrolytes: Sodium, potassium, calcium, chloride, magnesium, bicarbonate.
  • Full Lipid Panel: Total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, non-HDL cholesterol.
  • Thyroid Panel: TSH, free T3, free T4, and, if possible, anti-TPO and anti-TG.
  • Iron Panel: Serum iron, ferritin, TIBC, transferrin saturation.
  • Vitamin D: 25-OH.
  • Active Vitamin B12 and Red Cell Folate.
  • Sex Hormones: Oestradiol, progesterone, serum testosterone, prolactin, FSH, LH.
  • Inflammation Biomarkers: Hs-CRP, ESR, and, if possible, homocysteine.

In the UK, the NHS may not cover this entire list, which is why private testing is valuable for those looking to build a full health picture. Check out my 1-to-1 programmes for tailored support in interpreting these biomarkers and starting a personalised health journey today!
